To control, minimize and protect environmental damage to sensitive forest areas from the use of non-forestry purposes such as mining, HEP (hydroelectric projects), roads etc. Forest Clearance is required as per the provisions of Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 [Including Forest (Conservation) Rules (2003)]. FCA allows the diversion of forest land for developmental and social purposes e.g. drinking water, irrigation, transmission lines, railway lines, roads, power projects, defense related projects, mining etc. and for that Forest Clearance is required.
