Factory registration in India is regulated by the provision of the Factories Act, 1948. Factories Act, 1948 is formulated with the aim of ensuring the working condition in factories, to regulate health, safety welfare, and annual leave and to enact a particular provision with respect to persons who work in factories. Any factory where ten or more workers are working or were working on any day of the preceding twelve months and in any part of which a manufacturing process is being carried on with/ without the aid of power or is so ordinarily carried on that factory need to take license under Factories Act, 1948 or all the premises declared as a Factory by the State Govt. by notification under section 85 of the Factories Act, 1948 in the Official Gazette. Factory license is a certificate issued by the Chief Inspector of Factories to carry out manufacturing pursuits in the state.
As per the Factories Act, 1948, a factory needs to obtain a Building Plan Approval from the Labour and Employment Department before applying for a factory registration. Under the Factories Act, 1948, registration and renewal of factory licenses are also done to ensure the safety of workers. The Labour and Employment Department maintains the record of each factory satisfying the condition of the Factories Act, 1948, regarding their workers, power consumption, chemical usages and accepts returns that fall under various acts from those companies on a periodical basis. Akone Services provides the registration under Factory Act, 1948 for any factory/industry along with Industry License.
